Dry Riesling, 2018

94 Points, Wine & Spirits Magazine

“Drawn from White Springs and 16 Falls vineyards, this Riesling shows fusil notes and phenolic savor, lemon-cordial flavors with a dusty, zinc-like edge. It’s firm and tense, the lemon and wheat flavors conveyed with a dramatic immediacy, but the lasting impression on this wine is its drive, an electric, pulsating acidity that points to its core structure, and to a long life in the cellar.” – PC, 8/1/21

90 Points, Wine Spectator

“Pure and delightful, yellow apple, peach and jasmine notes stream along together, with a flash of honeysuckle on the finish. Drink now through 2023. 4,400 cases made.” – JM, 6/30/21

Dry Riesling, Argetsinger Vineyard 2017

94 Points, Wine & Spirits Magazine

“As distinct from most Seneca Lake vineyards, the soils at Argetsinger are mostly limestone beneath gravel and glacial till. They deliver a Riesling of seamless elegance and reserve—my note for this wine was “No splash.” The scent combines white chalk, lemon curd, a hint of fusil. The flavors are as quiet as a still lake, composed, mildly herbal, with gentle phenolics that last.” – PC, 8/1/21

91+ Points, The Wine Advocate

“The 2017 Riesling Argetsinger Vineyard, another late release, has just three grams of sugar (owner Morton Hallgren said, "Our sugar analysis is only accurate down to plus or minus one gram per liter, so it can be between two and four grams per liter") plus eight grams of total acidity. It comes in at 12.7% alcohol. Steely, deep and perhaps a touch reductive, this powerful Riesling is another classic from this vineyard. It's not for the shy, though, and winemaker Morton Hallgren has built this for the long haul. As it airs out and warms, this gripping Riesling becomes a little friendlier, but only a little. It's not entirely clear where the ceiling is for this wine just yet, but let's start here and see where it goes in time. It does need to come into better balance. If you like your Rieslings softer and sweeter, this isn't going to be for you. It definitely needs a food pairing—and perhaps a bit more cellar time.” -MS, 6/3/21

92 Points, Wine Spectator

“Nicely focused from the start, with mouthwatering acidity coursing beneath yellow apple, white peach and jasmine notes. Showing a serious snap of slate on the finish, this distinctive wine still has some evolution ahead of it. Drink now through 2026. 974 cases made." -JM, 6/15/21

Dry Riesling, 16 Falls Vineyard 2019

93 Points, Wine & Spirits Magazine

“Where the Argetsinger Riesling beckons in its quiet firmness, Ravines’ 16 Falls, is younger, more assertive, racy and electric, with scents of lees, fusil, Thai pineapple and a hint of celery. The acidity on this wine is more of an overt driver, mouthwatering with taut inner tension for a Thai curry.” – PC, 8/1/21
