Late Harvest Vignoles 2013

Our Late Harvest Vignoles shows all of the classic characteristics of a Botrytis dessert wine: amber color resulting from the high level of Botrytis, intense fruity aromas as well as typically associated with this type of wine and a long, complex taste that lingers for several minutes. The high acidity level resulting both from the Vignoles grape variety and the Botrytis provides a welcome balance to the residual sugar .

Tasting Notes
“The 2013 Late Harvest Vignoles comes in at 12% alcohol. It has a lot of sugar: 180 grams per liter, in fact. It also has 16.8 grams per liter of acidity. The acidity seems so high that it doesn't seem even a little bit close to having that much sugar. Tightly wound, fresh, intense and with a big finish, there is not a hint of cloying here. It is pretty delicious, too. This was sourced from Bedient Vineyard on Keuka Lake. Drink 2016 - 2030. This estate is owned by Morten and Lisa Hallgren. He, the oenologist, was trained in France and was the winemaker for Dr. Konstantin Frank for six years. The first vintage here was 2002. It is another of the wineries that has changed the face of the Finger Lakes, substituting artisanship for the low-end junk, and demonstrating that good reds can be made in FLX.” 91 points, Robert Parker's The Wine Advocate; Mark Squires, 6/29/16
